Earnings and spending
What a creator receives is not what a gifter pays. The formulas, with a calculator.
Two different amounts
A gift moves two amounts of money, and they are not the same.
- What the gifter pays. The sender buys coins in the TikTok app with a card or app store, then spends the coins on a gift.
- What the creator receives. The creator gets diamonds, and diamonds are worth less than the coins that bought them.
The difference covers TikTok’s share, app store fees and taxes. So when you see a creator with 10,000 diamonds, their gifters spent more than what the creator takes home.
How we estimate each side
Creator side:
Diamonds
counted from gifts
$0.005
estimated value of one diamond
≈ Creator
what the creator receives
Gifter side:
Coins
price of the gifts
$0.0133
typical price of one coin by card
≈ Gifter
what the gifter paid
A worked example
A creator ends the day with 10,000 diamonds. That is about $50 for the creator (10,000 × $0.005). The gifters who sent those gifts paid about $133 (10,000 × $0.0133). The creator’s share is around 38% of what gifters spent.
- Gifters paid about
- ≈ $133.00
- Creator receives about
- ≈ $50.00
- Creator’s share
- ≈ 38%
Rounded estimates. Real card prices and payouts vary.
